On 20 April, an unprecedented art festival titled MABOCA, or Madona Bunch of Cool Art, will be opened in Madona. Recognising the interest of the makers of MABOCA to develop and generate content for artistic life in the regions, VV Foundation is delighted to support the making of this project.
MABOCA festival has an international scale and will take place in public and freely accessible as well as private spaces in the centre of the city of Madona. The aim of the festival is to propagate the most recent trends in contemporary art and culture among the residents of Madona Municipality and its visitors.
The festival will take place from 20/04 – 20/05 with the participation of the freshest Latvian artists, while an international dimension is ensured by the participation of American artist Alexander Iezzi and French artist Camille Laurelli. The works will be installed in Madona Local History and Art Museum, bicycle shop in Rīgas iela 1a, events hall in Poruka iela 4, Saieta laukums, the restaurant of hotel Madona and in cinema Vidzeme. On the festival’s opening day, several locations will host artists’ performances, a tattoo studio and a fashion show by artist association GolfClayderman. On the opening night of the festival, cinema Vidzeme will host concert programme Brīnumu Nakts’10, which this year is focusing on electronic music and hip hop. Surprises in music and art await visitors throughout the month-long festival.
