Eriks Apalais

Ēriks Apaļais (1981, Latvia) graduated from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 2011 (under the guidance of HFBK Professor Andreas Slominski) and received the Karl H. Ditze Award for best diploma work. He’s had several solo exhibitions since 2008 at the Vera Munro Gallery in Hamburg, kim? Contemporary Art Center and Gallery “Alma” in Riga. In 2019, Ēriks Apaļais was one of the eight artists who was nominated for the most prestigious award in visual art in Latvia – the “Purvītis Award”, which was shown at the first Riga International Biennale of Contemporary Art (RIBOCA) in 2018.
